Lebanon Valley College will present their innovative program known as “The Seeing Lens” at the Lancaster Camera Club February meeting on February 3, 2020 at 7pm.
The program is a ten-week therapeutic program that fuses therapy and art together to assist Veterans in recovery and focuses on mindfulness. Each week focuses on a different aspect of recovery and ties it to photography. For example the recovery topic of clarity and attention is tied to the lecture on aperture and depth of field. Each Veteran is issued a camera and a textbook for duration of the program.
The presentation will be held in the Mellinger Mennonite Church fellowship hall at 1916 Lincoln Highway East. Please enter under the car port at the rear of the church.
The club meetings will be held in a new, temporary location beginning in February, 2020 as Brethren Village remodels their Great Room.

We have been invited to show our work as a club at United Zion Retirement Community. Photos will be hung in a long hallway with gallery lighting for the entire month of December. The Activities Director (Alyssa) at UZRC will advertise our show in community newspapers such as the Merchandiser.
Photo details: LCC Members may submit one large and one small framed image: • The larger frame may be any size up to 18 by 24 inches. • The smaller frame may be any size up to 12 by 18 inches • Put your name, photo title, and phone number on the back of each photo. • A wrapped canvas can be used as a framed print, however, you must have a wire on the back for hanging your picture. If you have questions about this please email Phyllis Wimer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pre-Registration: You must pre-register no later than our November 6th meeting: • By E-mail, send your name, photo titles and prices to Phyllis Wimer at email@example.com. • Or, sign up at the November club meeting giving the same information. Phyllis will print a tag for each photo so our photographers receive recognition and the work appears uniform.
Price your photos for sale if you want to, United Zion does not take a commission. We suggest that you price your pieces on the low side (yet covering your expenses) since the potential buyers are retired folks and you don’t need to allow for a commission. Alyssa at UZRC will notify you if your piece sells; you may choose to replace it.
Drop off your photos at United Zion Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM, either the week of November 18th or that of the 25th. The address of United Zion is 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. This is Route 501, north of Lititz. If you are driving north from Lititz, UZRC will be on your left, just up the hill from the Sheetz station at Newport Rd. The entrance you want is on the north side of UZRC so drive past the building and turn left. Give your photos to the receptionist. No late entries can be accepted. After the show, you may pick up your images on December 30th or 31st between 8 AM and 8 PM.
Save the date! We will hold our annual holiday gathering on Monday, December 2. This year we will be meeting in our normal Fieldcrest room at Brethren Village. We will not be having a banquet but there will be a light supper (sandwiches, veggies, cookies & such) after which we will enjoy a presentation by Blake Ziegler on his photo trip to Antarctica! This is also the time when we hand out the awards to club members who have accumulated the most points throughout the year.
Don’t forget to bring your Scavenger Hunt photo boards. (see details for the scavenger hunt here.) There is no cost (to you) for this event! You are welcome to bring a guest.
