Here’s a list of Lancaster City venues that I believe will be showing some photographs this First Friday, May 4th:

In Search of Lost Time: A photography installation by Joshua White with works that use historical photo processes and sculptural techniques to explore memories and the struggle to prevent memories from fading. Meet the artist. 6-9 pm.

Presenting paintings by Claire Giblin featuring the “Prayer Flag” series, Fine Art Photography by Sherry Dewald, paintings by Gail Grey and paintings by Velma and Renny Magill. Open 5:30-8 pm.

David the Goldsmith*

Photographing God’s Canvas: Featuring nature photography by Melanie Hummer with an emphasis on scenes from the Chesapeake Bay and Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Acoustic classic and contemporary rock and pop music by Lancaster band Reach for the Sun: Kim Ludewig, Chip Trautman, and Nate and Steve Diehl. 6-8 pm.

Pennsylvania College of Art & Design*

PCA&D Senior Show: Featuring the best of the best — one piece of artwork by each member of the Class of 2012. Dozens of works represent a variety of media and styles, including illustration, graphic design, photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, animation and multi-media. The exhibit is the culmination of four years of hard work. Meet some of the artists.

Main Gallery – Landscapes of Conflict: Features three contemporary photographers: Shai Kremer, Bart Michiels and Osamu James Nakagawa, who explore themes of conflict, peril and beauty within selected landscapes. Each artist reveals recent damages or alludes to ancient scars suffered by the terrain in these compressed yet expansive images. Osamu James Nakagawa will hold an artist lecture in the Atrium at 4 pm on First Friday.

Surface: A collection of photographs focusing on surfaces illuminated by light, movement or the patina of time by Donna Wilcox. Meet the artist. 5- 8:30 pm. Exhibit held on First Friday only!

THE GALLERY AT THE MANHEIM TOWNSHIP LIBRARY HOSTS FIRST EVER SHOW DEDICATED TO PHOTOGRAPHY

The Gallery at the Library is pleased to announce the debut of their first ever Photography Show on February 2. The Gallery at the Library, located within the Manheim Township Public Library at 595 Granite Run Drive in Lancaster, has several art shows each year with works from Lancaster County and Regional artists.

The Photography Show features a wide range of photography from 13 local and regional photographers showcasing nature, landscapes, local landmarks, people and places. A total of 90 pieces are displayed.

A special Reception will be held on Tuesday, February 7 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM, within the Library, to celebrate the new show and allow those in the public to meet many of the featured photographers. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The show can be viewed during regular library hours through March 31. A brochure highlighting the photographers in the show is available at the Library. Artists or photographers interested in having their works considered for future shows may contact Lori at 717-560-6441 ext. 304 or email at ldeitrich@mtpl.info.
