First Friday Photography Venues for 2013-06-07

Here’s a list of Lancaster City venues that I believe will be showing some photographs this First Friday, June 7th:

First Friday Hours: 5 – 8 pm.
In Place – Lancaster City Photographs:
Fine-art color photographic prints by Patrick J. Cooney, presenting the visual richness that Lancaster City offers to those who take the time to see it. Exhibit continues through June 28th.

The Ware Center – Millersville University Lancaster
42 N. Prince St.
First Friday Hours: 5 – 8 pm.
June First Friday at the Ware Center:
– Lancaster Summer Arts Festival’s “Expanded Visions” Exhibit:  29th Annual Photography Exhibition June 7 – June 30, 2013. “Expanded Visions” is a juried exhibition that embraces all forms of photography, from the traditional darkroom to the digital image. Sponsored by the MU Art Department, this exhibit will include the winners for 2013.
– McCaskey Student Art Show premiers on June 6th and will continue on display through First Friday and the weekend.  This show is part of the Lancaster Summer Arts Multi-Cultural Weekend Program.
– Lobby Music:  Ali Taylor is a senior in high school and a passionate lyricist and musician.  Singing and piano have allowed her to express herself when words wouldn’t work.  Don’t miss this talented performer in her Ware Center debut.

First Friday Hours: 5 – 9 pm.
Surroundings & Playing with Flow:
Photographic works by artists Christopher Bavaria and John Holmgren, who will both be present. Exhibit runs through July 27, 2013.

Hammel Associates Architects
25 E. Grant St., #102
First Friday Hours: 5 – 8:30 pm.
New Work from the Susquehanna Trail – The Road of Never-Ending Delight:
The show features large format color pigment prints of landscapes which explore the auto-trail, which ran from Washington DC to Niagara Falls, as a cultural artifact. The images are emblematic of the shifting ground between controls and abandon in the domesticated landscape at the end of the automobile age. Work by Christine Welch, Professor and Chair of the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design Photography Department, who will be present.

First Friday Hours: 5 – 9 pm.
Summer Preview – Current Student Artwork from the BFA Program:
This exhibit features outstanding artwork created by our rising junior and senior BFA students. A wide variety of media will be represented including digital and hand drawn illustration, painting, printmaking, photography and graphic design. Exhibit runs through August 2. Suitable for children.

“Parked” (sponsored by Coe Camera)
Lancaster Square, across from Binns Park
North Queen Street between Orange and Chestnut Streets.
First Friday Hours: 6 – 8:30 pm.
Planes and Ships – Perspectives on the Lives of Folks with Large Hobbies:
“Parked” is a collaborative, one-year, photography exhibit by Ole Hongvanthong and Taylor Brown. Unlike your art galleries, museums, college campuses, and cafes, “Parked” is housed inside a U-haul truck. Meet the artists.
